Growing up in a single parent background, money was tight and a major concern. Coming from a small town, the thought of studying at Sunway College and the city alone was daunting. However, with the support and encouragement from my family, friends and the counselling team, I was able to graduate from Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) and subsequently Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) three years later. I would like to thank the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Community Scholarship and Sunway College for changing the course of my life and helping me achieve my dream of becoming an accountant.

“…my twin and I were the only hope of our family to have a better life…”
I was born into the Semai Tribe in Slim River. At the age of 4, my twin and I were sent to live with my foster family. Although they cared for me as their own, a part of me often longed to go back to my village. That was when my older sister told me that my twin and I were the only hope of our family to have a better life. I was accepted as a recipient of the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Community Scholarship to pursue the Diploma in Event Management. This chance has opened up many pathways for me to learn and gain experiences that will help me achieve my dreams. Always keep in mind that nothing in life comes easy and you need to continuously work for it. Always remember where you came from, who you are and never lose sight of your destination.
